WALLEYE GEAR

Rods, Reels, Line
Light to Medium Light 6' - 7' graphite rods with fast action tips, reels to match rod for weight and balance, 6 - 8 lb. test line.

Artificial Baits
· 1/4 - 3/8 oz. jigs heads - bright citrus colours such as chartreuse,pink, lime and firetiger.
· Twister Tails 3" - 4" long
· Lindy Rigs
· Worm Harnesses with bright citrus coloured blades.
· Berkley Gulp Minnows and Grubs 3-4"
· Fuzzy Grub jigs
· Floating Jig Heads
· Deep diving crankbaits such as #8 & #9 Rapala Shad Raps and #9 & #11 Minnow Raps
· Sinkers - Bullet (1/4-3/8 oz. for spinner rigs), Lindy Type (1/8 oz. - 3/8 oz. for Lindy Rigs)

Live Bait
Live bait is generally not needed at Beteau especially for pike. However it wouldn't hurt to pack a flat of crawlers packed in worm bedding (not dirt) to tip your walleye jigs and worm harnesses with. Bait is available for purchase at Pennocks in Nakina.

NORTHERN PIKE GEAR

Rods, Reels, Line
Medium to Medium Heavy 61/2' - 7' graphite rods. Bait casting reels to match rod weight and balance, 15-20lb mono or 30-50lb braid.Larger spinning reels such as the 4000 series Shimano spooled with 30lb braid are also very good. 20-40lb steel or titanium leaders are essential. 80lb fluorocarbon leaders are excellent as well.

Baits
Inline bucktail spinners such as Buchertails, 1/2-3/4oz spinnerbaits, Johnsons Silver Minnows, Doctor Spoons, Williams Wablers, Daredevls, Rapala Husky Jerks, 5" plastic swimbaits, 8" Reapers with appropriate jig heads.

Fly Fishing Gear for Northern Pike
· Fly Rod - 8-9 wt. · Fly Reel - 7 - 10 wt. · Fly Line - Floating weight forward in 8 or 9 wt.
· Leader - 20 - 30# single strand wire attached with haywire twist.
· Flies - Whitlock's Hare Water Pup, Whitlock's Hare Worm, Dahlberg Rabbit Strip Diver, Clouser Minnow, Lefty's Deceivers, Sizes 3/0 to 2.
